The position involves significant travel, with an expectation of being on the road approximately 80% of the time. Flexibility is paramount, as the role includes the potential need to drive during night hours. The nature of the work also necessitates occasional heavy lifting, potentially up to 60 lbs.

In addition to the driving and calibration duties, the successful candidate will also be tasked with performing routine light maintenance and cleaning of the truck to ensure its optimal performance and longevity.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a calibration truck safely to and from assigned testing locations.
  • Drive the vehicle across weigh-in-motion systems at specified speeds and weights to perform calibration and accuracy testing.
  • Follow established procedures for WIM system testing and data collection.
  • Assist technicians with equipment setup, testing, and calibration activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of driving runs, vehicle weights, test results, and site activities.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety issues.
  • Comply with all DOT, company, and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Travel to different job sites as required, including overnight or extended travel when necessary.
  • Maintain a professional attitude when working with customers, technicians, and project personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class A
  • Clean driving record and safe driving history.
  • Commercial driving experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely maneuver a heavy truck in controlled testing environments.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong attention to safety, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Previous experience with weigh-in-motion systems, scale calibration, transportation equipment, or field testing is a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform vehicle inspections and assist with basic field activities.
  • Ability to work outdoors and occasionally lift or handle equipment and materials.

We are looking for someone who is not only adept at handling the physical requirements of the job but also demonstrates a strong commitment to safety and professionalism on the road. If you feel that you or someone you know possesses the skills and qualifications for this role, we would welcome your interest and encourage the submission of an application.
