Position Summary
The Electronics Technician will assist a Engineer in the design, development, and support of electronic devices and/or systems utilized in the traffic data collection industry, while also providing basic IT support for the local office.
The Contribution: (Roles and Responsibilities)
- In office and in field system functionality testing and data analysis
- Conduct research and provide detailed technical reports
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair on electronic equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Use various tools and electronic equipment to build and repair systems
- Monitor and report on project progress
- Build prototype models based on technical guidelines
- Assist in the calibration and configuration of data collection devices used in traffic monitoring.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, including user manuals, troubleshooting guides, diagrams, and inventory reports.
- Support field installations and provide on-site and remote technical assistance when required.
- Collaborate with engineers and other professionals on technical tasks
- Provide basic IT support and troubleshooting for on-site staff, serving as a liaison between local personnel and the main office IT department

- Demonstrate proficiency in assembling, testing, and troubleshooting electronic systems
- Show continuous improvement in technical skills and knowledge of industry trends
- Consistently meet or exceed project deadlines for system setups and repairs
- Efficiently manage inventory and maintain equipment in excellent working condition
- Demonstrate ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies
- Effectively manage basic IT support requests, minimizing downtime for on-site staff
- Maintain clear communication between engineers, local office personnel, and main IT department
- Produce clear and comprehensive technical reports and documentation

- Previous experience as electronic technician or similar role
- Hands-on experience with electronic testing and circuitry
- Familiarity working with various tools and equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- MS Office and diagnostic software (e.g. PC-based)
- Basic knowledge of IT systems, networking, and troubleshooting
- Excellent physical condition and hand-eye coordination
- An associates’ degree or apprenticeship as electronic technician
- Certification in engineering or electronics is required
- Travel requirement : Minimal travel may be required
- Strong communication skills
